South African Stakes-Winner for Rock of Gibraltar
Progressive stayer Atyeb (5h Rock of Gibraltar x Atyab, by Mr Prospector) scored his second stakes victory in South Africa on Saturday when taking out the Group III Caradoc Gold Cup at Turffontein.
A homebred for Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum trained by Mike de Kock, Atyeb won the 2850 metre stying event by a long neck, his overall record now four wins and five placings from 11 starts.
Foaled and raised at Coolmore in Australia, Atyeb is a half-brother to English stakes-winner Musaalem and is one of five winners from the Mr Prospector mare Atyab, who was exported to South Africa in 2008.
