Stakes Next for Undefeated Fastnet Rock Filly
A $500,000 Inglis Easter investment on a blue-blood filly for Jonathan Munz’s Pinecliff Racing looks like paying dividends with Passive Aggressive (3f Fastnet Rock x Miss Judgement, by Strategic) making it three wins in as many starts when saluting at Flemington on Saturday.
Trained by Grahame Begg, three year-old filly Passive Aggressive was a Breednet ‘One to Watch’ when winning on debut at Werribee at the start of the month and then won again at Pakenham before taking on an open 3YO’s event on Saturday over 1100m.
She made it look easy when forging clear to win by more than a length under regular rider Jordan Childs, who has ridden her in each of her three wins.
Jordan Childs is full of praise for the fleet footed daughter of Fastnet Rock.
"Every time you ride her, in a situation like that, she does things so easily. Even today she had her ears pricked most of the way, even when I was riding her out. I don't think we've got to the bottom of her yet and she can keep going through the grades," Childs said.
Grahame Begg would like to get Black Type for Passive Aggressive before the end of the season with the Listed Creswick Handicap (1200m) a potential next start in two weeks' time.
"She'll go there and then we'll probably back off her for a bit. I think she deserves a chance to get a bit of Black Type if she's up to it. I think she's certainly up to being a Black Type horse," Begg said.
Bought by Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock, Passive Aggressive was bred and sold by Cressfield and is a full sister to Group III winning and multiple Group I placed sprinter Missrock, who won over $1.3million.
Passive Aggressive is the final foal from Group III winning Strategic mare Miss Judgement, who was retired from stud duties last year and is a sibling to Group I winner Mrs Onassis and Group III winners Fifth Avenue Lady and Aussies Love Sport.
The value of this prolific Black Type female family was highlighted when Missrock was offered off the track at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2019 where she fetched $2.3million to the bid of John and Jake Warren and was exported to the UK.
Missrock made $500,000 as a yearling in 2015, the same price paid for Passive Aggressive, so connections will no doubt be hoping her career can unfold with similar success.
