Starspangledbanner Filly Strikes On Second Start

Team Building (2f Starspangledbanner - Flarepath, by Exceed And Excel) took a step forward on her second start to lead home a 1-2 for Coolmore sires in Wednesday’s fillies’ maiden at Deauville.

The Edouard Monfort-trained chesnut broke smartly in the six and a half furlong contest and soon settled in midfield under Leo Roussel. Quickening on the turn for home, she was ridden approaching the final furlong and ran on well to lead inside the final 110 yards. She kept on to beat the favourite Zoe (Ten Sovereigns) by two and a half lengths.

The daughter of Starspangledbanner is owned by breeders Haras des Pyrenees.
