Stylish Debut for Fastnet filly
Scoring an eye-catching debut victory at Canterbury on Wednesday was Miss Que (3f Fastnet Rock x Tarcoola Diamond, by Last Tycoon), a full sister to Group II winner Cluster.
Prepared by Joe Pride, Miss Que stumbled out of the gates to be a clear last at the jump and appeared to be struggling in the wet conditions before launching in the straight to overhaul the leaders in the shadows of the post.
A homebred for Peter and Wendy Moran, she won the 1100 metre maiden by three quarters of a length.
"It puts a real smile on your face. It was a very impressive win from a filly with a really deep pedigree," Joe Pride said.
"Early in the straight she looked to be labouring but the class shone through late.
"She's taken a while to get to the races but I think now that she's there she can really go on with it."
Pride believes the three-year-old daughter of champion sire Fastnet Rock has the ability to develop into an autumn carnival horse.
"It is a pity she has missed her three-year-old year in a lot of ways but there's every chance she'll train on now and be a nice four and five-year-old, and if we look after her maybe by next autumn she can really measure up to the better horses," Pride said.
Miss Que is a full sister to Group II winner Cluster and a half-sister to stakes-placed Inkling.
