Neguev (2c So You Think-Lady Bering, by Bering) justified odds-on favouritism when winning a competitive Deauville maiden for trainer Jean-Claude Rouget on Monday.
The first-crop So You Think colt had finished first on his debut at the same course earlier in August only to be placed second following a stewards’ enquiry.
But there were no such problems this time around as Ioritz Mendizabal steered the colt to a cosy victory.
“This horse has a big engine,” Mendizabal told JDG. “He barely took a breath for 200 metres and that is the feat of a horse who is out of the ordinary. It is normally unfeasible.”
Neguev, who realised €120,000 as a yearling at Arqana last August, was bred by Ecurie La Boetie
