Three Straight for Halle Rocks
Fastnet Rock has many bright prospects for the autumn and none more exciting than unbeaten filly Halle Rocks (3f Fastnet Rock x Face of the Earth, by Strategic) , who resumed from a short break to score an impressive win at Moonee Valley on Friday night.
A brilliant winner at her only two previous runs in the spring, the Mick Price trained filly was sent out a short priced favourite for the open three year-old event over 1000 metres and strode clear to win by a length.
Halle Rocks has won in excess of $80,000 from her first three wins and will no doubt target Black Type this preparation.
She looks another great prospect for her owner breeders Dr Denis O’Brien and his wife Claire, who have enjoyed great success with her family.
A half-sister to this season’s speedy juvenile Diamond Earth, Halle Rocks is the first foal of stakes-placed Strategic mare Face of the Earth, who was also bred by the O’Briens from their former classy filly Freckled Face.
The O’Briens raced Freckled Face in Brisbane with Lloyd Hickmott and have bred from her with tremendous success for years now, the speedy daughter of Polish Patriot (USA) leaving six winners from six foals to race led by Group III winner and sire Face Value.
The current yearling from Face of the Earth, a filly by Danehill Dancer, was sold at Magic Millions earlier this year for $310,000 to Gai Waterhouse and James Harron Bloodstock.
The mare has a Duke of Marmalade colt to follow and was covered last spring by Encosta de Lago.
