Wootton Bassett Colt Skips Clear On Debut
Sahlan (2c Wootton Bassett – Wasmya, by Toronado) made a perfect start to his career at Deauville on Friday, when drawing clear in the seven and a half furlong maiden for juvenile colts and geldings.
Francis Graffard’s newcomer tracked the leaders in the early stages and was pushed to take closer order turning for home. The bay led a furlong from home and ran on strongly to beat the short-priced favourite by four lengths.
The Al Shaqab homebred was ridden by Mickael Barzalona.
