Young Gun Sires Set for Sales Action

The month of May is an exciting one with the very first weanlings by our next generation of sires set to hit sale rings in Sydney for the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale (May 6,7) and at the Gold Coast for the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale (May 26,27) with the progeny of Home Affairs, St Mark’s Basilica and Acrobat set to sparkle.

A dual Group I winning son of reigning champion sire I Am Invincible, Home Affairs was the busiest first season sire in 2022 at a fee of $110,000, so is entitled to have a big impact on yearling sales in 2025, however we are going to get a taste of the future in coming weeks with a selection of his weanlings to be offered for sale.

Home Affairs has just four entries for the Inglis sale with the majority of his weanlings headed to Gold Coast where 20 have been entered by 12 different vendors.

Home Affairs has a superior female family that has produced champion Australian sires Flying Spur and Encosta de Lago with high anticipation that he can follow suit.

St Mark’s Basilica was the European Horse of the Year in 2021 and retired with five Group I wins from 1400 to 2100m that included the Newmarket Dewhurst Stakes at two as well career defining wins against older rivals in the Sandown Eclipse Stakes and the Irish Champion Stakes at three.

The consummate professional as a racehorse, he also has the pedigree being a half-brother by Siyouni to dual Group I winner Magna Grecia from Group III winning Galileo mare Cabaret.

St Mark’s Basilica has six entries for Inglis and 14 for Magic Millions entered by 11 different vendors.

A lightning fast son of recently retired legendary sire Fastnet Rock, Acrobat has been heavily supported by breeders happy to take a punt on a lightly raced prospect from a super successful female family that has produced Group I winner Ozzmosis and Group I placed Group II winner Learning to Fly in the past 12 months.

Acrobat has 13 entries for Inglis and nine for Magic Millions.
