Zoffany Yearlings Impress at Magic Millions
A Group I winning son of Dansili, Zoffany made a keen impression during the fifth session (Book Two) of the 2015 Magic Millions Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast on Sunday with five yearlings selling for up to $180,000.
Top seller for Zoffany was a colt from She’s Sirius consigned for sale by Berkeley Park Stud that sold for $180,000 to the bid of Ciaron Maher Racing.
He is the second foal of a winning Galileo half-sister to juvenile stakes-winner Spectrolite in She’s Sirius, who has a filly foal to follow by Zoffany and is back in foal to him again.
A horse described by Nick Hodges of Riversdale as the - “Best walker I’ve ever had on the farm”- also proved popular.
A handsome brown colt (pictured) from Centaure (NZ), he returned a great result selling for $170,000.
“Everything about him moves with a rhythm. He’ll be a trainer’s horse for sure,” Hodges said prior to the sale and a trainer’s horse he was, going to astute Newcastle conditioner Paul Perry.
Zoffany had five yearlings sell at an average $86,000, a pleasing return from a modest $11,000 service fee.
Winner of the Group I Curragh Phoenix Stakes at two and second in the Group I Royal Ascot St James Palace Stakes at three to Frankel, Zoffany enjoyed good results with his first Irish bred yearlings at European sales last year and will have his first runners in the Northern Hemisphere this year.
