Fastnet filly can Fly higher after stakes win
The Aidan O’Brien-trained I Can Fly (3f Fastnet Rock-Madonna Dell’Orto, by Montjeu) scored in fabulous fashion in Listed company at Killarney on Wednesday night.
The Fastnet Rock filly has always been held in high regard by connections, having been sent off at single-figure odds in both the British 1,000 Guineas and Oaks, and looks set for a productive end of season following this confidence booster.
She took the lead two furlongs out, eventually finishing three and a quarter lengths clear of the staying-on Rionach to capture the Listed Racing Post Vincent O’Brien Ruby Stakes over a mile.
"I rated her very highly but she came out of the Oaks a little worse than we expected," said winning rider Seamie Heffernan. “She has outclassed them today but is a hell of a lot better than that.
"I had loads of confidence going out today and hopefully she can pull it together now.”
I Can Fly was bred by Rockwell Bloodstock.
