History
Coolmore secured the southern hemisphere breeding rights to Danehill in 1995 and established Coolmore Australia the following year with the acquisition of a property on Jerrys Plains in the Hunter Valley.

Legendary Danehill
Danehill would go on to become the most dominant influence on Australian breeding in the modern era, while other champion sires followed in the shape of Encosta de Lago and Danehill’s son Fastnet Rock.

Top-class Racehorses
The farm itself boasts a century-long legacy of producing top-class racehorses.
Early 20th-century standouts bred there by the Moses brothers included the 1920 Melbourne Cup winner Poitrel, champion sire Heroic, and the high-class galloper Manfred.

Home of Champions
Spanning over 8,000 acres, including 5,000 acres of irrigated river flats and undulating paddocks, the pastures have been shown by agronomic studies to be amongst the highest quality in Australia.
Careful management has ensured that the land continues to provide optimal conditions for the growth and development of thoroughbreds. Horses raised here include Fastnet Rock, Redoute’s Choice, Special Harmony, Sea Siren, Pride of Dubai and the legendary Winx.
The 2022/23 racing season saw homebred and new syndicate horse Shinzo record a famous success in the world’s richest two-year-old race, the Golden Slipper, underscoring Coolmore Australia’s ongoing impact on elite racing and breeding.
