$1.3 Million Colt for Fastnet Rock
Champion sire Fastnet Rock closed out the 2014 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale with a bang, providing the top lot on the final day of trade when his colt from Defiant Dame sold for $1.3 million.
Consigned for sale by Coolmore and secured by leading trainer Gerald Ryan, the much admired colt is the first foal of smart More Than Ready stakes-winner Defiant Dame, who was bought by Tom Magnier for $740,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2012.
"In my opinion he was one of the top five colts in the sale," Ryan said.
"He looks an early runner.
"His mother won the Gimcrack, her mother (Marcovette) was trained at Rosehill and she was also a very fast horse.
"I love speed under Fastnet Rock. I reckon it goes good."
Defiant Dame has been a regular visitor to Fastnet Rock and is back in foal to the champion sire after producing a filly to him last year.
