$1.75 Million Fastnet filly Breaks Maiden

James Cummings coaxed a well-deserved win at Wyong on Wednesday from blue-blooded filly Peaceful Sea (3f Fastnet Rock x Candlelight, by Kingmambo), the highest priced yearling by her sire sold in 2015.

Never further back than fifth in five previous starts, Peaceful Sea has been a frustrating horse for punters, but finally put it all together to surge home and win the 1200 metre maiden by three quarters of a length.

"She's been a bit of an enigma up until this point not having won a race and she's been showing such nice ability at home," said winning rider Glyn Schofield.

"I think this will be a nice confidence boost for her just to get a nice soft win under her belt.

"We took all the gear off her head and let her go back to basics and she did the rest.

"She jumped well, she put herself there. In the prelims she gets a bit hot but she was a lot calmer today with the run under her belt and she proved too good."

Peaceful Sea runs in the Coolmore navy blue and was a $1.75 million Inglis Easter purchase from the Segenhoe Stud draft.

Bred by Fairway Thoroughbreds, she was the most expensive yearling by Fastnet Rock sold in 2015 and is the fourth winner from Candlelight (USA), a half-sister by Kingmambo to Group I winner and sire Grand Slam.
