Blazerro (Pierro) winning at Cranbourne

100th Winner for Pierro

Champion sire Pierro cracked his century of Aussie winners on Thursday with a commanding victory for Blazerro (2g Pierro x Blazing Snitzel, by Snitzel) at Cranbourne sparking interest in his entries for the 2022 Golden Slipper, which come from an outstanding crop of rising two year-olds.

Fit and ready to fire at his third start at Pakenham in the 1300m maiden, the Phillip Stokes trained Blazerro was a red hot favourite and led all the way to win by two and a half lengths, strolling home alone.

Blazerro was a $120,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newgate Farm draft for Bennett Racing/McEvoy Mitchell Racing.

He is a full brother to Sydney metro winner Fiery Red and is the fourth winner from Blazing Snitzel, a winning half-sister to stakes-winner Excuse My French from the family of Group I winner Julinsky Prince and this season’s Group III winner Nudge.

Pierro has had his usual outstanding season siring 100 winners of over $9.5million in prizemoney highlighted by five stakes-winners headed by his multiple Group I winner Arcadia Queen, who sold this year as a broodmare prospect for $3.2 million at Magic Millions making her the most expensive mare sold this year.

Pierro is poised for further success in the new season with 64 entries for the 2022 Golden Slipper, a race he won in 2012 on his way to becoming Champion 2YO.
