20-length winner for Westerner

The Westener Boy (5g Westerner-Designer Lady, by Buckskin) looked an outstanding prospect at Fairyhouse on New Year’s Day when scoring by 20 lengths on his debut under Rules. The Westerner gelding won a point-to-point at Lisronagh by 10 lengths on December 4 and was sent off a well-backed 5/4 favourite for the Fairyhouse bumper, in which he was eased down when recording his facile success. Bookmaker Paddy Power rate The Westener Boy a 20/1 chance for the G1 Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival in March but trainer Mags Mullins is considering sending the five-year-old jumping. “I've no real plans but he was very impressive today,” Mullins told www.irishracing.com. “He's a chaser and could be a serious horse.”
