$290,000 Inglis Classic Colt for Rubick

The 2018 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale produced more strong results for exciting young sire Rubick, who had yearlings sell for up to $290,000 at this very first sale at the new Inglis Riverside Stables complex.

Rubick had 20 yearlings average $88,650 with his top seller a colt from Honeymoon Cruise fetching $290,000 for Widden Stud when bought by Worldwide Bloodstock out of the prestigious Gold Riband session of this sale.

The star colt is from a half-sister by Fastnet Rock to the 2017 Group I HK International Sprint Stakes winner Mr Stunning.

“The Rubick colt from Honeymoon Cruise was a particularly popular colt who we offered on behalf of Bangaloe Thoroughbreds,” Widden Stud’s Ryan McEvoy told ANZ Bloodstock News.

“With the appearance of Hong Kong superstar Mr Stunning in the immediate pedigree it ensured he was a sought after colt.

“He was a well-balanced, attractive, good moving horse and will get his chance in Hong Kong with Tony Millard to emulate his close relation.”

Next best for Rubick was another handsome bay colt from Bint El Noor that made $200,000 for Sledmere Stud when bought by Yu Long Investments.

He was a phenomenally successful pinhook result for Sledmere Stud having been snaffled at the Magic Millions Weanling Sale last year for just $30,000 from the Emirates Park draft and is from a half-sister to triple Group I winner Shamekha.
