$350,000 Filly Leads Munnings Offerings at OBS Spring

John Kimmel was the buyer of a $350,000 New York-bred Munnings filly to lead the stallion’s offerings at the OBS Spring 2-Year-Old In Training Sale.

Purchased on behalf of Nedlaw Stables, the Niall Brennan Stables-consigned filly is a half-sister to three winners from three to run out of multiple stakes winner Sheriffa. That mare is a full sister to the multiple stakes placed Might Be and a half-sister to stakes winner Tiergan. Might Be is also the dam of the stakes placed Walk With Me.

All four dams on the page have either won a stakes themselves or produced multiple stakes winners. Third dam Erica’s Smile is not only a multiple stakes winner but also a Grade I-placed runner who produced two stakes performers.

James Divito signed the ticket for a Munnings colt consigned by Eddie Woods after securing him for $300,000 during the first session.

The colt out of the Scat Daddy mare Heavenly Scat was bred by BlackRidge Stables and has brought no less than $200,000 during his three trips through the ring. Heavenly Scat is a half-sister to Grade III winner and Grade I-placed Champagne Problems and to the stakes-placed Fire Coral.

There is Grade I form throughout the page with third dam Pleasant Dixie the dam of multiple Grade I winner Southern Imagine and granddam of Grade I winner Turbo Compressor. In all, there are six stakes winners and five other stakes performers on the page.

Munnings saw 12 of his 13 juveniles offered sell this week with his 2-year-olds selling for up to $700,000 in 2024.
