Pierro X Forever Loved yearling filly selling for $450,000 at Karaka

$450,000 for Pierro Filly

A beautiful filly by Pierro from Group II winning High Chaparral mare Forever Loved was one of the highlight horses on day one of the NZB National Yearling Sale Book 1 at Karaka on Sunday.

Consigned by Curraghmore, the filly was purchased by Chris Waller Racing/Mulcaster Bloodstock for $450,000 and will race for Queensland visitors Brian and Peggy Flannery, who have already enjoyed success with Victoria Derby winner Manzoice.

“We have only been in racing for a few years. We got into it through a friend of ours Neville Morgan and our sons,” Brian Flannery said.

“We bought a few horses and Guy Mulcaster has bought them for us.

“We were lucky enough with our third horse to get Manzoice, which won the Derby in Melbourne.

“That has got us hooked and we thought we would come over here and enjoy ourselves.”

The star filly was bred by Greg and Donna Kolivos of Lightning Thoroughbreds, who raced her sire Pierro and she comes from a pedigree made famous at Karaka.

Her dam is a daughter of stakes winner Diamond Like, in turn a daughter of Group I winner Tristalove, who is a grand-daughter of the legendary matriarch Eight Carat.

Pierro also had a good result with a colt from Aretha selling for $330,000 to John O’Shea Racing/ Suman Hedge Bloodstock. Consigned by Windsor Park Stud, he is the first foal of a multiple Group I placed Group II winning Charm Spirit mare that traces back to NZ Horse of the Year Horlicks.
