€600,000 Colt at Arqana for Uncle Mo

Uncle Mo was the sire of the third most expensive juvenile at the Arqana Breeze Up Sale on Saturday when Jamie McCalmont went to €600,000 for the colt.

Offered by Powerstown Stud, the colt is a half-brother to two winners out of multiple graded stakes winner and Grade I fourth Summer Applause. That mare is a half-sister to stakes placed Big Easy and to the dam of Grade I winner Beyond Brilliant.

Bred by Narola, this colt’s family also includes Grade II winners Recoup the Cash and Brooklyn Strong among others.

Purchased on behalf of Coolmore, Jamie McCalmont told Thoroughbred Daily News the juvenile will be heading back to the U.S. where he’ll join Todd Pletcher’s barn.

Uncle Mo has the fourth most stakes winners of any North American or European stallion this year at eight with his 12 stakes performers including two Grade I performers and one Grade I winner.
