$675,000 for Pierro Half-Brother to King’s Legacy
Dual Group I winning two year-old King’s Legacy was the busiest first season sire in Australia last year covering 212 mares at Coolmore and his half-brother by Pierro made $675,000 for Segenhoe Stud at Inglis Easter on Tuesday.
The Segenhoe Stud 2YOs have been racing up a storm this season with stakes success for Seven Veils and Amelia’s Jewel as well as exciting 2YO colts Let’srollthedice and Millane with the expectation this colt could follow suit.
He was bought as a prospective sire for Victoria by the Rosemont-Victorian Alliance/Suman Hedge BS/David Redvers BS partnership, who have already achieved significant success in their goal of purchasing stallions of the future.
Two of their acquisitions from last year are current season stakes-winning colts Brereton and Millane, who are well on their way to delivering on their potential.
This dashing brown colt comes with a big pedigree being from stakes-placed Breakfast in Bed, a half-sister to Group I winner Oohood from the Singles Bar branch of the Easy Date family that has also produced leading sire Not a Single Doubt.
Pierro also had a big result with his filly from blue-blood Encosta de Lago mare Crystal Flute snapped up from the Sledmere Stud draft by Kia Ora Stud for $500,000.
She is a half-sister to Group I placed Meritable from the family of champion sire Redoute’s Choice.
