$725,000 Colt for Practical Joke at Keeneland September
Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Bridlewood Farm, and La Penta teamed up for a $725,000 Practical Joke colt during the first session of Keeneland September’s second book on Wednesday.
Consigned by Nursery Place, the colt’s page backs up his potential on the track with his dam Golden Scarf producing four winners from five to race. Of those four winners, Golden Glider won a stakes and placed second in a Grade III while Glamanation was a stakes winner as well.
Golden Scarf won on the track as one of eight winners out of her own multi stakes winning dam Bar U Mood, who also produced the multiple stakes placed Silver Spear. Bar U Mood joins four siblings as stakes winners out of the stakes winning Passing Mood. That mare produced six winners from seven to race with the group including Grade I Belmont Stakes winner Touch Gold and Canadian Horse of the Year With Approval.
The producing power has been passed on through the generations with another one of Bar U Mood’s stakes winning siblings producing Canadian champion Serenading and the dam of Grade I winner Brilliant Speed among others.
The sire of two Grade I winners in 2024, Practical Joke also saw his Book 2 offerings sell for $310,000, $275,000, $265,000, etc.
The Keeneland September Yearling Sale continues at 10am daily through September 21.
