Agartha (Caravaggio) Wins Gr.3 Fairy Bridge Stakes at Tipperary

Agartha Back On Top In G3 Fairy Bridge

It was a third stakes victory for Caravaggio’s Agartha (3f Caravaggio x Arya Tara, by Dylan Thomas) when she won the Group III Fairy Bridge Stakes by a length at Tipperary.

Dropping back to 7 ½ furlongs after going 1 ¼ miles last out, Agartha was first out of the gate and had the lead every step of the way. Declan McDonagh asked her to pick up the pace just outside the final quarter mile and she was happy to flash another gear. Feeling secure that she was the winner, he eased her down to win by a length over a stablemate.

"She deserved to get her head in front this year,” McDonagh told Irishracing.com. “They thought the style of training in America (recently) didn't suit her and when she came home Pat McCabe, who rides her out, and I thought she was back working really well and we were proved right … it is a good confidence booster. She loves Leopardstown and maybe she'll go to the Matron or something like that now."

Bred by Whisperview Trading, Agartha runs for Scott Heider and was winning her third rave with seven other top three finishes in 13 starts, including a Group I second.

She is out of the stakes winning Arya Tara, who herself is out of a half-sister to Group I winner Astarabad and the dam of champion runner Azamour in addition to the granddam of Australian champion The Autumn Sun.

Arya Tara has a 2-year-old Churchill colt named Agathon and yearling and weanling colts by Ten Sovereigns.
