Altano takes German G3 for Galileo

Altano (7g Galileo-Alanda, by Lando) took the G3 Oleander-Rennen for a second consecutive year at Hoppegarten on Sunday and will now head for the G1 Gold Cup at Royal Ascot. The Andreas Wohler-trained son of Galileo, who was bred by Gestut Hof Ittlingen, saw off 10 rivals to capture the two-mile contest. "I was very satisfied with that and Altano will now be aimed at the Gold Cup," Wohler told the Racing Post. Altano is a three-parts brother to Araldo (5h High Chaparral-Alanda, by Lando), who finished third in last season’s G1 Preis Von Europa.
