Anaheed Wins G3 Blue Sapphire
Royally-bred filly Anaheed (3f Fastnet Rock x Rostova, by Testa Rossa) bounced back to her best form at Caulfield on Wednesday to beat the colts and win the Group III Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m).
It was the third Group success for Anaheed after the Group II ATC Percy Sykes Stakes and Group II ATC Sweet Embrace Stakes last season at two.
Coming from just off the pace under Damian Lane, Anaheed came clear to win buy a length.
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained filly was scratched from last Saturday's Group III Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m) against fillies to run here, obviously a good decision.
"It was a good call by Peter and Paul to run her here with the lighter weight,” Melbourne stable foreman Andrew Angelone said.
“She's a very good filly and we've always known that. It was good to see her perform today."
Foaled and raised at Coolmore, Anaheed is a homebred for Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum,
She advances her record to four wins and a second from 10 starts with earnings of $1.2 million.
Anaheed is a half-sister to stakes-placed Farooq and is the third winner for Group I winning Testa Rossa mare Rostova, who is now in foal again to Anaheed's sire Fastnet Rock.
