Another Day, Another Juvenile Winner By Wootton Bassett
Tribal Nation (2c Wootton Bassett – Indian Blessing, by Sepoy) took another step forward on Monday to get off the mark in the seven furlong maiden at Galway.
The Joseph O’Brien-trained colt finished a promising fifth in a Curragh maiden on debut and progressed to take second next time out. He was well-supported ahead of his third attempt and travelled strongly throughout under Dylan Brown McMonagle.
Producing a challenge before the final furlong, he was ridden to lead soon after and kept on to beat the favourite by a length and a quarter, with another five and a half lengths back to the third horse.
“He is a gorgeous horse,” the winning rider said. “He showed a good attitude on the ground in the last furlong and I think he is a nice horse who will only get better. Hopefully he has a good future ahead.”
Owned by Teme Valley with breeder Newsells Park Stud, Tribal Nation holds an entry in the Irish 2,000 Guineas.
