Another Rising Star For Starspangledbanner

Starspangledbanner’s strong juvenile form this season continued on Saturday, when Star Alexander (2f Starspangledbanner - Triggers Broom, by Arcano) ran out an impressive winner of the five furlong Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Bath.

Third in a competitive Ascot maiden on her racecourse debut last month, the Clive Cox-trained filly was sent off favourite under Adam Kirby. He rode her to make all of the running, gradually drawing clear of his rivals and despite stumbling in the final furlong, scored by six lengths with ease.

Star Alexander is owned by Noel O’Callaghan, who enjoyed success with Starspangledbanner’s very first crop, with his homebred filly Anthem Alexander capturing the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot. Starspangledbanner has two daughters entered in this year’s running, with another two of his colts entered in the Norfolk Stakes, while two of his fillies hold entries in the Albany Stakes.

Star Alexander was bred by Nick Bradley out of a half-sister to top Hong Kong miler Xtension and to the dam of champion sprinter Harry Angel.
