Aussie Stakes-Winner for Fusaichi Pegasus

It’s been a long time since Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus shuttled to Australia, but it was his seven year-old son Falino (7g Fusaichi Pegasus x Danamala,  by Danehill) that came out on top in the Listed BRC Bribie Handicap at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.

The Darren Bell trained gelding produced a greatly improved performance on his recent form to win the 1000 metre sprint by a neck, taking his overall record to nine wins from 37 starts with prizemoney topping $430,000.

Winner of the Group III BRC BRC Classic at three, Falino has always had a touch of class.

Bred and offered for sale by Kia Ora Stud, Falino fetched just $14,000 at the Inglis Winter Thoroughbred Sale in 2010.

He is one of two winners and the final foal of Danamala (GB), a sister to Group II winner Royal Dragon and to the dam of Japanese Group I winner Deep Sky.

Falino is one of 73 stakes-winners worldwide for Fusaichi Pegasus
