Facile Vega (Walk In The Park) After Winning The Grade 1 Punchestown Champion Bumper

Back To Back Grade 1 Wins For Unbeaten Son Of Walk In The Park

Facile Vega (5g Walk In The Park - Quevega, by Robin Des Champs) demonstrated his class once again on Wednesday when recording back-to-back Grade 1 victories in the Punchestown Champion Bumper.

The Willie Mullins-trained bay came into the race with an impressive unbeaten record to his name and so, it was no surprise to see him sent off favourite under Patrick Mullins. Racing in midfield for much of the way, he was tracked throughout by stablemate Redemption Day, including when cruising to challenge two furlongs from home. Ridden to lead inside the final furlong, he ran on well to score by a length and a quarter, with the Mullins pair drawing 14 lengths clear of the field.

Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “He was flat today and he still won, he got headed and he battled back. He's the full package, he can do it tough if he needs to.”

Willie Mullins echoed those sentiments, saying, “The horse had to dig deep and it’s the sign of a good horse. He has huge potential.”

The son of Walk In The Park is owned by the Hammer and Trowel Syndicate, who bred the star out of their top-class mare Quevega. They have a four-year-old full-sister to Facile Vega in training, with fillies by Camelot and Australia waiting in the wings.
