U S Navy Flag head shot

Bigger Things Ahead Of U S Navy Flag’s Latest Winner

U S S Constitution (2c U S Navy Flag - Stor Mo Chroi, by Montjeu) earned himself a step up in class when making all to win Saturday’s Novice Stakes at Ascot.

The Ed Walker-trained colt was well-supported for the seven furlong contest, having finished a close third on debut last month. Saffie Osborne asked the bay to quicken after the two furlong marker and increased the pressure entering the final furlong, with her mount keeping on well to score by a neck. The first two drew four and three quarter lengths clear of the field.

Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “We might look to throw U S S Constitution in at the deep end next time. He's a lovely horse and I think he's the sort to be better when he's in a better class of race too.”

U S S Constitution is owned by David Ward and was sourced by Sackville Donald as a yearling for €75,000. Bred by Epona Bloodstock, the son of U S Navy Flag provides an exciting update for his yearling full-sister who sells at next month’s Tattersalls Book 2 Yearling Sale.
