Black-type win for Soldier Of Fortune filly

Veteran rider Jacques Ricou brought down the curtain on his riding career at Auteuil on Friday with a victory on tough Solider Of Fortune filly Black Luna (4f Soldier Of Fortune-Back The Winner, by Entrepreneur).

Riding for long-time ally Guillaume Macaire, Ricou and Black Luna finished eight lengths clear when winning the Listed Prix Francois de Poncins over 2m 2f.

“A month ago, Guillaume asked if I’d finish my career with him and Black Luna will always have a special place in my heart now,” said an emotional Ricou.

“She accelerated really well and I asked her owner if I could have a little piece of her first foal! Guillaume called me after the race and I shed a little tear.”
