Meditate (No Nay Never) Wins The Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Keeneland

Breeders Cup Win Continues Fantastic Season For No Nay Never

No Nay Never’s domination of the top juvenile contests stretched to the US on Friday, when Meditate (2f No Nay Never - Pembina, by Dalakhani) captured the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

Aidan O’Brien’s dual Group winner was sent off favourite as she stepped up to a mile for the first time and was given a patient ride by Ryan Moore. Taking closer order from two furlongs out, the Irish raider ran on strongly to lead inside the final 120 yards and was pushed out to score by two and a half lengths.

Meditate looked the likely winner early in the straight and Moore later confirmed he was always confident. “She was always very comfortable,” he said. “She had them covered very quickly and the race was over a furlong and a half out – she had a lot left and was probably a level above all of them.”

“We always thought she was a high-class filly,” O’Brien added. “We came to here to see if she would be a filly for the Guineas.”

Owned by Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith, Mrs John Magnier and Westerberg, Meditate is the best performer bred by Lynch Bages and Rhinestone Bloodstock out of Pembina. She becomes an impressive fifth individual Group 1 winner this season alone for No Nay Never, with three of those top-flight winners being two-year-olds.
