Caracaro (Uncle Mo) Breaks Maiden At Gp

Caracaro Newest ‘Rising Star’ For Uncle Mo

A month after finishing second in his debut, Uncle Mo’s Caracaro (3c Uncle Mo x Peace Time, by War Front) earned TDN Rising Star status when impressively breaking his maiden at Gulfstream Park on Saturday.

Racing over a mile on the dirt, Caracaro ran in second for most of the race but when he was asked to kick up the pace by Emisael Jaramillo in mid-turn he didn’t hesitate. Caracaro took over the lead soon after and quickly pulled away from the field. It was easy sailing from there with the Gustavo Delgado trainee crossing the wire six lengths in front to be tabbed a TDN Rising Star.

Purchased by Global Thoroughbred as a weanling, Top Racing joined the colt’s ownership before his debut. Caracaro was bred by SF Bloodstock and is a grandson of Grade II winner and Grade I placed Santa Catarina, the granddam of Listed winner Bombshell.

A top sire, Uncle Mo is the sire of two Eclipse finalists this year with three-time Grade I winner Bast in the running for Champion 2-Year-Old honors and Grade I Hollywood Derby winner Mo Forza named as a Champion Turf Male finalist.
