Casterton (Fastnet Rock)

Casterton a top staying prospect for Fastnet

OTI Racing’s Casterton (3c Fastnet Rock-Chenchikova, by Sadler’s Wells) is likely to end up a top staying prospect in Australia, connections confirmed following the colt’s impressive win at Deauville this week. Trained by Andre Fabre, the Fatsnet Rock colt landed a cosy victory in the Listed Prix Vulcain over an extended 12 furlongs with Mickael Barzalona in the saddle.

Hubie de Burgh, representing OTI Racing in Europe, told JDG: “Casterton looks like a very good stayer. He’ll go to Australia to continue his career eventually but only when Andre Fabre advises us to do so.

“He’ll therefore have at least another year to race in France. He’s only three and there are numerous options over longer distances in the European programme.”
