Snaffles (Churchill) Wins The Listed Star Appeal Stakes At Dundalk

Churchill Colt Doubles Up With Stakes Success

Snaffles (2c Churchill - Annabelle Ja, by Singspiel) followed up his impressive maiden victory with a black-type win in Friday’s Listed Star Appeal Stakes at Dundalk.

A five length winner last month, Joseph O’Brien’s charge tackled seven furlongs once again under Shane Crosse, who rode the bay to chase the leaders. Ridden to lead inside the final furlong, Snaffles ran on well to win by three parts of a length on the line.

There is much more to come from the Demi O’Byrne-owned colt, according to assistant trainer Brendan Powell. “Snaffles is the most laid-back horse you'll ever get,” he said. “I think there is so much improvement. He's a tall, sparely made horse, but a good-looking horse and I think he has a very bright future.”

Bred by Lynch Bages, Camas Park and Arkle Bloodstock, he becomes a third individual Stakes winner from the first crop of Churchill. Churchill’s other black-type performers include Group 2 Futurity Stakes third The Acropolis and the twice Group-placed Unconquerable.
