Churchill Filly Claims Fourth G1 Win
When Churchill gets a good one, he gets a really seriously good one! A three time G1 winner going into the Group I Prix de l’Opera (2000m) at Longchamp on Sunday high class filly Blue Rose Cen (3f Churchill x Queen Blossom, by Jeremy) showed her class to score a tenacious neck win.
The Christopher Head-trained filly claimed her first G1 win in the Prix Marcel Boussac by five lengths on this program last year and has been right at the top of her class ever since.
She won both the French Thousand Guineas and Oaks earlier this year and now has the impressive record of eight wins and a second from 12 starts.
“It's incredible,” said Christopher Head.
“This filly has brought us so much. She has had a long and tough season, and every time she shows up. I'm delighted to be lucky enough to train her. For her to come back and win on Arc day is really something else.
“I'll talk to her owner about whether that's it for the year. The Breeders' Cup is a possibility, but I have to talk to the Yeguada Centurion team.”
A homebred for Yeguada Centurion SLU, Blue Rose Cen is the first foal from dual Group III winner Queen Blossom and is one of two Group I winners for Churchill, who is back in Australia again this spring at a fee of $22,000.
