Classic Lynne (Classic Empire) winning a Belmont MSW

Classic Lynne A Belmont MSW Winner for Classic Empire

The Joseph Besecker-owned Classic Lynne (2f Classic Empire x Tristanme by Bwana Charlie) became her sire’s latest winner on Friday with a Belmont Park Maiden Special Weight victory.

Stepping up to a routing distance for the first time when entered by trainer Joe Sharp in a 1 1/16 mile turf race, Classic Lynne proved that the longer distance was to her liking.

Soon after the break, jockey Luis Saez positioned her in second to the inside of the leader as that one set an uncontested lead. Just outside the final quarter mile, Saez asked his mount to start her charge and she responded well.

Switching out to the three path, she had command of the race just a furlong later and was kept to her task by her jockey to win by three lengths at the line.

Bred by Mt. Sackville Bloodstock, Classic Lynne is one of give winners from six to race out of Grade 3-placed Tristanme. That mare is a half-sister to the stakes winners Regiment and Eternal Cup and is one of four stakes performers overall from nine winners out of their dam Forever Full.

Classic Empire is now the sire of 12 winners of 15 races in addition to having the third most stakes performers of any freshman sire at five – tying him with studmate Practical Joke. Ashford freshmen take three of the top four spots with Caravaggio’s seven stakes performers the best of any stallion in the class.
