Classy Camelot Filly Makes It Two From Two

Ricetta (3f Camelot - Panzanella, by Dansili) confirmed the class of her debut win when making it two from two at Newmarket on Thursday.

Successful over seven furlongs two weeks prior, the John Gosden-trained filly was sent off favourite for the mile contest, despite her seven pound penalty. Ridden prominently by Nicky Mackay, the Juddmonte homebred led approaching the two furlong marker and was ridden out to hold off a strong challenge by Topanticipation. The winning margin was three parts of a length, as the leading pair finished clear of the third.

Speaking after the race, Mackay said, “Ricetta is a lovely filly who is still learning her trade.”

A step up in class is now expected for the Camelot filly, whose dam a half-sister to Kingman, and hails from the family of Oasis Dream.
