Colt From First Crop Of Blackbeard Sells For €155,000
A first crop foal by brilliant juvenile Blackbeard was one of the highlights at Goffs on Tuesday, as Stanley Lodge’s half-brother to Benevento sold for €155,000.
James Hanly of Ballyhimikin Stud was the successful purchaser, and after signing as TOHA, confirmed that the colt would be offered for resale. “He’s a lovely colt,” Hanly said.
“He’s very well bred, a beautiful animal and comes from a very good farm, so we’re very happy with the purchase.
“We actually bought the brother two years ago. They’re both very nice horses and there’s a lot going on in the family. I’ve seen some nice foals by Blackbeard and we thought this was probably one of the better ones.”
Their dam, Pollyana, was one of 50 Group/Stakes performers or dams of Group/Stakes performers scanned in foal to Blackbeard in his first season at stud.
