Cup plan for Fastnet’s G3 winner Torcedor
Torcedor (5g Fastnet Rock-Magnolia Lane, by Sadler’s Wells) looks set for a lucrative season in the top staying events after winning the G3 Coolmore Vintage Crop Stakes at Navan on Sunday for trainer Jessica Harrington.
The Fastnet Rock five-year-old, who easily won his first start of the season at Leopardstown, won in good style under Colm O’Donoughe.
“That was a big step forward for him,” said Harrington. “I thought he’d come on from Leopardstown but I’d no idea how far.
“I was worried the ground was too good because he’d won on slower ground at Leopardstown. I was hoping it wasn’t too quick for him but he seems very versatile on ground now. Colm was very impressed and said he’d come on a lot from Leopardstown.
“Looking at him you’d hope he’d become a Cup horse. I'll have a conference with the owners and see where we go but I'd say we'll probably like to go to Ascot with him.
“He has a very relaxed way of racing and you can put him where you like in a race.”
