Poseidons Pool (Pierro) winning at Ballarat

Debut Winner Impressive for Pierro

A flurry of smart recent winners has Pierro firing towards the end of the season with this latest success coming at Ballarat on Thursday for the strong finishing Poseidon’s Pool (2g Pierro x Kulgrinda, by Exceed and Excel). A homebred for David Moodie’s Hesket Bloodstock, the Darren Weir trained gelding was well supported and surged to the line to beat the favourite Straviera by the best part of a length in the 1000 metre maiden. “He had a difficult run through the race and has done well to win on debut. He’s a horse we have a nice opinion of,” said Jeremy Rogers, Racing Manager for Darren Weir

Poseidon’s Pool is the first foal of Group III winning Exceed and Excel mare Kulgrinda and becomes the eighth winner for Pierro, who also sired Roy Had Enough to win in South Africa on Wednesday.

Golden Slipper winner Pierro stands this season at a fee of $49,500.
