Song Of Earth (Mahler) Wins The Maiden Hurdle At Gowran Park

Determined Son Of Mahler Prevails In Maiden Hurdle Test

Bumper winner Song Of Earth (6g Mahler - Lady Lenson, by Bob’s Return) showed a game attitude when recording his second career success at Gowran Park on Thursday.

The Mags Mullins-trained bay had some promising form over hurdles and was most recently seen finishing second in a similar contest at Limerick. He tracked the leaders under Lisa O’Neill and led with minimum fuss as they approached the third last. Johngus produced a strong challenge at the final flight, from which the pair rallied to the line, where Song Of Earth prevailed by a head, the pair drawing nine and a half lengths clear of the third.

Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “Song Of Earth battled well to the line and he had plenty of stamina, it's tough going. He travelled and jumped well but he had plenty of experience and that showed as well.”

Bred by Morgan Kavanagh, Song Of Earth is owned by his trainer in partnership with K Leavy, MP Hackett and A Hanway.
