Diamond Oops Closes 2019 with Mr. Prospector Win
Diamond Oops (4g Lookin At Lucky x Patriotic Viva, by Whywhywhy) raced to an exciting victory on Saturday in the Grade III Mr. Prospector Stakes against a top field.
Taking place over seven furlongs on the Gulfstream Park dirt, Diamond Oops ran behind the bulk of the field few lengths behind pacesetting X Y Jet early on. He was content to watch the race unfold in front of him before moving up the rail to close the gap in the far turn. Swung to the outside of leading Imperial Hint, Diamond Oops powered to the front in the final furlong and crossed the line a length in front.
It was the first start since the Grade I Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile for the Diamond 100 Racing Club, Amy Dunne, D P Racing, and Patrick Biancone Racing gelding, who is also trained by Patrick Biancone. Diamond Oops has finished in the top three in five of his seven starts this year with five wins in his career for $646,490 in career earnings.
Bred by Kin Hui Racing Stables, the gelding is a half-brother to Listed winner Patriotic Diamond and out of a Listed winner. The gelding also hails from the family of dual Grade I winner It’s The One.
A dual Champion as a racehorse, Lookin At Lucky is the sire of 52 stakes winners and 101 stakes horses, including this year’s Grade I Kentucky Derby winner Country House and last year’s Eclipse Champion Older Dirt Male Accelerate.
