Duke’s Galileo half-brother Rules at Chester
The Aidan O’Brien-trained Ruler Of The World (3c Galileo-Love Me True, by Kingmambo) proved himself a live Derby contender when running out an impressive winner of the G3 Chester Vase.
The Galileo half-brother to Duke Of Marmalade had won a Curragh maiden on his only previous start and was sent off a well-backed favourite for the Chester showpiece, rewarding his supporters when running out a six-length winner under Ryan Moore.
Paul Smith, whose father Derrick part-owns the winner, said: “Aidan thinks a lot of the horse. He has been working well at home and we’re really delighted with that run.
“It was only his second run and we thought he might be a bit green and babyish so put cheekpieces on. With the tight-turning track and big crowd I think that paid dividends.”
Moore added: “He did it nicely and the race worked out well. He was still green but when I grabbed hold of him he lengthened really well. The run round here will have done him good.”
