Euginio claims Newmarket G3 for Fastnet

The ever-reliable Euginio (4c Fastnet Rock-Starstone, by Diktat) became the latest Group winner for Fastnet Rock at Newmarket on Saturday.

Trained by Richard Hannon for Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar, the four-year-old got up in the closing stages of the Group 3 Darley Stakes to win under Hayley Turner.

It was a fifth career success for the colt, bought by Tony Nerses as a yearling for 155,000gns, and Turner paid tribute to his courage.

“They told me to be really cool on Euginio as he likes cover and he was as game as anything when the gaps came,” said Turner.
