Exciting new additions to Coolmore
So You Think and Excelebration, by far the best sons of High Chaparral and Exceed And Excel respectively, will both be new on the roster at Coolmore for 2013 along with Power who retired from racing last week. Also joining the roster is exciting first crop sire Henrythenavigator who returns from Coolmore America.
Winner of his only start at two, So You Think took Australian racing by storm before moving to Ballydoyle last season. Victories over Workforce in the Eclipse and Snow Fairy in the Irish Champion Stakes featured amongst a total of ten Group 1 successes.
Of all the 3-year-olds of 2011 only the great Frankel was rated superior by Timeform to Excelebration . As it stands Excelebration has two Group 1 wins to his credit but he also finished runner-up to the Henry Cecil trained wonderhorse on four occasions – three of them at Group 1 level. His next target is the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on Champions Day after which the Breeders’ Cup Mile may be considered.
Henrythenavigator broke track records at Royal Ascot at both two and three years and won four consecutive Group 1’s over a mile as a three-year-old before retiring to Ashford. The son of Kingmambo has made an excellent start with his European runners headed by Group 1 Phoenix Stakes winner Pedro The Great, Group 1 Prix Morny runner-up George Vancouver, Cristoforo Colombo and Afonso de Sousa.
“So You Think, Excelebration, Power and Henrythenavigator are all multiple Group 1 winners and Henrythenavigator has already proven himself capable of siring Group 1 winners,” said Coolmore’s Eddie Fitzpatrick. “They’re all exciting prospects with very bright futures.”
