D B Cooper (Getaway) Wins On Debut At Ballyknock

Exciting Son of Getaway Sells For £225,000

D B Cooper (4g Getaway - Swiss Bliss, by Presenting) was one of the talking horses before the Goffs UK Aintree Sale and lived up to expectations in the ring, where he was knocked down to Joey Logan and Andy and Gemma Brown for £225,000.

Sean Doyle’s charge impressed on debut when out-battling a rival to win by two lengths at Ballyknock, with the performance made even more taking by the 30 length gap back to the rest of the field.

It was a sentiment echoed by Joey Logan after signing the docket. “I thought he was impressive,” Andy and Gemma Brown’s advisor said. “He came very well recommended - Sean Doyle said he was one of the best four-year-olds he's had.”

Grange Stud sire Getaway was also responsible for a smart performer on the track on Thursday, with the Harry Fry-trained Geezer Rockstar (4g Getaway - Rock’s Field, by Presenting) beating the short-priced favourite on debut at Taunton.

One of 13 to line up for the two mile bumper, Geezer Rockstar raced prominently under Lorcan Murtagh and led approaching the final furlong. Running on well inside the final furlong, he scored by three lengths from €165,000 buy Jackpot D’Athou, with a neck back to promising newcomer Call To Duty (Soldier Of Fortune) in third.

Bred by the Culloty family, the son of Getaway is owned by Doubtfire, Haring, Thornton and Davies.
