Three Stripes Light (Leading Light) Wins On Debut At Navan 1

Exciting Son Of Leading Light Enters Champion Bumper Reckoning

An impressive debut performance in Friday’s bumper at Navan saw the Gordon Elliott-trained Three Stripe Life (5g Leading Light - Hirayna, by Doyoun) earn quotes of 16/1 for the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham.

The first crop son of Leading Light had evidently shown great promise at home and was sent off favourite under Jamie Codd. Racing in midfield, he made headway from four furlongs out and disputed from two out. Leading a furlong later, he quickened clear to score by nine lenghs.

Speaking after the race, Gordon Elliott said, “We think a good bit of him and he’s done everything right at home. He could be a Cheltenham bumper horse — I certainly wouldn’t rule it out.”

Owned by K Haughey, Laura Haughey and Kieran Byrne, Three Stripe Life was bred by Pat O’Reilly.
