Facile Vega (Walk In The Park) Makes An Impressive Debut At Leopardstown

Exciting Son Of Walk In The Park Impresses On Debut

The beautifully-bred Facile Vega (4g Walk In The Park - Quevega, by Robin Des Champs) lived up to expectations on debut when running out an easy winner of the Leopardstown bumper on St Stephen’s Day.

The son of top-class race mare Quevega was sent off a clear favourite under Patrick Mullins, who rode his father’s charge to chase the leaders and improved to lead with five furlongs left to race. Quickening clear approaching the final furlong, he scored by six lengths, with another 13 lengths back to the rest of the field.

Speaking after the race, Willie Mullins revealed, “Patrick said that when he asked him he couldn't believe how he picked up again into another gear. I think he's a horse that could have a nice future.” On future plans, he added, “I'd imagine they'll take the usual route of the Dublin Racing Festival onto the spring festivals for the big bumpers there.”
