Docpickedme (Getaway) Wins At Ballycahane

Fantastic Point-To-Point Four-Timer For Getaway

Grange Stud resident Getaway celebrated a fantastic four-timer between the flags over the weekend, beginning with a winning debut by Docpickedme (4g Getaway – Hard Luck, by Old Vic) at Ballycahane on Saturday.

The Ellmarie Holden-trained chesnut was produced at the final fence by Derek O’Connor and ran on to win by a length. His next destination is likely to be the sales ring at Cheltenham, where owner Paul Holden will hope to capitalise on his shrewd store purchase of a half-brother to useful chaser Another Venture. The son of Getaway was bred by TJ Hurley.

Meanwhile, at Bandon, the Michael Kennedy-trained Salt Wind (5g Getaway – Karen Mag, by Oscar) built on a promising debut second to take the five-year-old geldings maiden. Leaping into the lead at the final fence, he won by two lengths under Johnny Barry in the colours of breeder Karen O’Driscoll.

Cailin Dearg (5m Getaway – Lepidina, by Oscar) completed a quickfire treble for her sire when taking the following maiden by five lengths. Leading from start to finish under Darragh Allen, she built on a promising third last time out, while she also finished second in early January. The chesnut mare is owned by JJ Butler and was bred by Miss R. Tonson Rye.

My Mind Reader (6g Getaway – Watson River, by Presenting) completed Getaway’s fantastic four-timer when making a winning return in a maiden later on the Bandon card. Patiently ridden by Darragh Allen, Damien Murphy’s charge scored by three parts of a length from First Touch (Mahler). The Jane Foley-owned bay was making his first start since November and his third career start overall.

Bred by D Murphy, My Mind Reader is a full-brother to three-time bumper winner Getariver (Getaway), out of a half-sister to multiple Graded-winning chaser Watson Lake.

Getaway commands €9,000 at Grange Stud.
