Fastnet Filly Wins Inglis Guineas

Quality  filly Serene Majesty (3f Fastnet Rock x Custard, by Lonhro), a Group III winner in Melbourne last spring, produced her ‘A game’ at Scone on Saturday to beat the colts in the $400,000 Inglis Scone Guineas. Prepared by Peter and Paul Snowden, Serene Majesty had been placed at her last two starts in Black Type company and under a cool ride from Kerrin McEvoy arrived in the last stride to claim victory. She surged to the line to beat stakes-winning colt Spill the Beans by half a head in the 1400 metre feature , which was won two years ago by champion sprinter Chautauqua. "That was very satisfying,” Paul Snowden said. "She’s been desperately unlucky a couple of times this preparation. "She was massive at Hawkesbury last start. She overraced up on the speed which is not her go and she was on the inside where the ground was inferior. "Ridden conservatively like she was today, you saw a different horse.” Serene Majesty has won three races and placed four times from 10 starts earning over $440,000 in prizemoney, but will be assessed on a run to run basis as regards further goals this preparation. "She’s been up for a while so we’ll see,” Snowden added. "She’s got another bit of black type now and there’s some nice races for her early in the spring.” A $400,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Kitchwin Hills from the Segenhoe Stud draft, Serene Majesty runs for a syndicate that includes many of the Black Caviar owners such as Neil Werrett. She was bred by Segenhoe and is from stakes-winning Lonhro mare Custard from the family of speedy stakes-winners such as Fravashi, Pure Joy and Russian Caravan. Custard is due to foal to Fastnet Rock again this spring.
